World of Warcraft 4.3 Information

The upcoming patch for World of Warcraft entitled “Dragon Soul” has a very extensive list of new features. Some of the new features include:

• Transmogrification - No, it won’t require a large cardboard box from the Clavin and Hobbes comics – however, it WILL allow you to customize the way your character’s armor appears in-game. You will be able to exchange the appearance of one item with that of another. This will greatly improve the diversity in appearance of the various characters running around in the game. It may also bring a new aspect to Player vs. Player in that your character can have a “street sleeper” appearance to your armor – throwing your opponent off-balance and not knowing exactly what sort of gear he or she is up against. Hate the look of your shiny new Tier-13? Make it look like Tier 3 if you liked it better! There are a LOT of restrictions on how Transmogrification works – check out the article on wowpedia.
• Void Storage - A new storage technology knows as “Void Storage” will be available in 4.3. This new storage system opens up an additional 80 slots of long-term storage and will be available in Orgrimmar and Stormwind from an Ethereal “Vaultkeeper”. Each deposit and withdraw from storage will cost gold and will strip items of enchantments, gems, and other alterations. It is intended for use as a method of storing items for the life of the World of Warcraft game which have sentimental or aesthetic purposes and not as an alternative to the in-game bank or guild vaults. It is NOT intended as a means of storing commonly used or accessed equipment (such as raid sets, or alternate spec gear).
• Reforging of an item has also been moved to the Ethereal race and will be available from a set of Ethereal vendors in the major cities.

Outland and Northrend Quest Flow

• The amount of experience needed to advance from levels 71 to 80 has been reduced by approximately 33%.
• Many group quests in Outland and Northrend have been re-tuned to allow players to complete them single-player. The majority of the dungeon quests for these zones have also been moved to NPC’s within the dungeons themselves (as currently seen in the 1-60 dungeons).

User Interface Changes

• North American realms (excluding Brazilian, Latin American, and Oceanic realms) no longer permit letters with accents in character or guild names. Existing character and guild names with special characters will be unaffected by this change.
• Archaeology areas of interest will now show on the mini-map, in addition to the world map.
• Bag search – a search field has been added to allow players to search bag, bank, guild bank, and Void Storage for specific items.
• Guilds with inactive guild leaders can now usurp the leader under specific conditions. More information on how this will work has yet to be released.
• Quest tracking areas or points of interest will now show in the mini-map in addition to the world map.
• The World Map now shows the expected character levels for each zone.
