Peeking at the Paikang Zone!

While it’s no big surprise that Age of Conan is getting an expansion soon, what is a surprise is that Funcom has been doing an awesome job with their marketing; they’re slowly announcing new races, changes and zones etc to build some fresh hype for their Hyborian title.

Although hype can be bad if it is used wrongly (like a few MMO launches that’ll remain nameless), I feel that this expansion is deserving of the hype. I have high hopes for this expansion; I was always a big fan of Funcom, especially Anarchy Online.

While leveling 1-80 was a blast in Age of Conan, I did feel a little let down at the end game, while they’re doing their best to fix it , this time I am not going in expecting the holy grail from the game. I want to enjoy this expansion for what it is.

Onto the details! Funcom has announced recently of their final zone in the new expansion, Peeking… er Peking.. I mean Paikang, yeah Paikang whew. The zone is the largest of all included in the upcoming expansion and inside it there are numerous areas such as, Paikang Forest, Splinterspar Coastling, Temple of Yun and Paiking City.

The priests of Yun believe in human sacrifices, and the temple is their holy sanctuary. Bizarre rituals take place here. Naked women dance and chant and there are also rumors that men willingly throw themselves in the fire pits during rituals to please Yun. (whew, did they say naked women?) 

I know I said I wouldn’t get my hopes to high, but I’m having trouble with that, soon it’ll be time to wipe off my old AoC account and get ready for some smashin’ bashin’ action!
